Symptoms of a Failing Inducer Motor
- Inducer motor does not start when the thermostat calls for heat.
- Furnace will not ignite because the pressure switch does not close.
- Humming or buzzing from the inducer motor.
- Grinding or squealing noises caused by worn motor bearings.
- Rattling or excessive vibration while the inducer is running.
- Pressure switch error codes caused by the inducer not producing enough draft.
- Intermittent operation where the motor sometimes starts and sometimes does not.
- Furnace goes into ignition lockout after repeated failed attempts to start.
- No heat even though the furnace has power.
A pressure-switch error does not automatically mean the inducer motor has failed. Furnace venting, pressure-switch tubing, the pressure switch and other related components should also be checked.
