Signs of a Faulty 24W97 Pressure Switch

A faulty 24W97 pressure switch can prevent the furnace from continuing through the ignition sequence. Common symptoms include:

• Inducer motor starts but the ignitor does not energize
• Burners will not ignite
• Furnace displays a pressure-switch fault
• Furnace repeatedly attempts to start
• Pressure switch does not close when proper draft is present
• Intermittent furnace operation

A pressure-switch fault does not automatically mean the 24W97 has failed. Blocked venting, restricted pressure tubing, condensate problems or an inducer motor problem can also prevent the switch from closing.
